Residential Gutter Specifications
We install 6″ K-style .032-gauge aluminum seamless gutters — one continuous run per section, cut to length on-site with a seamless gutter machine. No seams means no joints to separate, no caulk to fail, and no gaps for water to bypass.
.032-gauge aluminum is thicker than the standard .027-gauge used by many contractors — more rigid, less prone to sagging between hangers, and more resistant to denting from ladder contact and falling debris.
We install 3″×4″ downspouts — larger than standard 2″×3″ downspouts — to handle the drainage volume from 6″ gutters without backing up during heavy Midwest rainfall events. Every downspout is extended away from the foundation to direct water clear of the structure.
Hidden hangers are screwed into the fascia at 24″ intervals, holding the gutter firmly through freeze-thaw cycles without the progressive loosening that spikes cause over time. At every inside and outside corner, we use aluminum box miters for a clean, seamless corner transition — not lap-seam miters sealed with caulk.
We offer a range of gutter guard options to keep leaves, twigs, and debris out of the gutter channel year-round. If you have significant tree canopy over your home, a gutter guard system reduces the maintenance burden significantly and prevents the debris buildup that causes overflow and fascia rot.

Commercial Gutter Systems
Commercial installations typically require larger gutter profiles and downspout capacities than residential work — box gutters, oversized K-style systems, and in some cases scupper-and-downspout configurations where roofline geometry or parapet walls dictate the drainage approach.
For commercial flat or low-slope roofs, see Flat Roofing for integrated drainage system details including scuppers and overflow scuppers.
Commercial property managers and building owners benefit from scheduled gutter maintenance programs more than any other customer segment. Neglected commercial gutters on a large building can cause significant facade damage, foundation issues, and interior water intrusion — all of which are far more expensive to remediate than the cost of annual maintenance.

Why Gutters Matter More Than Most Property Owners Realize
Most property owners think about gutters only when they’re overflowing. But the consequences of failed gutters go further than a wet driveway.
Foundation damage
- Water pooling at the foundation saturates the soil around the footing, increasing hydrostatic pressure and the risk of water intrusion — in residential basements and commercial ground-floor spaces alike.
Fascia and soffit rot
- Water that runs behind a detached gutter saturates the fascia board, leading to rot that eventually compromises the structural integrity of the roof edge.
Landscaping and site erosion
- Concentrated discharge from improperly sized or spaced downspouts erodes plantings and grades at the drip zone.
Ice dam contribution
- Clogged gutters in late fall trap standing water that freezes in place, contributing to ice dam formation at the eave edge.
Filtered Ridge Vent System
- Proper attic ventilation extends shingle life, reduces energy costs, and is required for full warranty eligibility.
- Lakeland installs a filtered ridge vent system with air baffles or slant-back roof vents, chosen based on the roof’s configuration and pitch.
- We do not install “mushroom” vents — they’re prone to bee and wasp infestations and are not covered under Certai
- Teed manufacturer warranties. If the existing roof has mushroom vents, we replace them.
